Immersive Stays – sustainable nature‑based experiences beyond the ordinary
Our category of immersive stays was introduced at the end of 2025 to meet the growing demand for simpler, nature‑close accommodation with a wilderness feel — an ‘off‑grid’ holiday experience similar to camping or ‘glamping’. These stays differ from our regular farm accommodations, yet they still follow specific criteria to be part of the Farmstay Sweden brand.
What counts as an immersive stay
An immersive stay may be a furnished glamping tent, a simple cabin, a traditional shepherd’s hut, a crofter’s cottage, or a converted caravan. Running water or electricity may be absent, and heating is often provided by a wood stove, tiled stove or open fireplace. Even so, we maintain high standards for fire safety, cleanliness and overall quality.
It is essential that hosts clearly describe — with both words and images — what is provided in these unique accommodations.
Basic requirements for the guest’s accommodation
- • The stay must offer an experience that differs from everyday life
• Smoke-free indoors
• Clean, well‑kept and environmentally sound — both the accommodation and the surrounding farm
• Smoke alarms and fire‑safety equipment must be available in sufficient quantity
• Payment may be made by mobile Swish, cash, card or invoice
Basic requirements for cooking and sanitation
- • Cleanliness throughout, with complete equipment
- • Cooking, hygiene and sanitation facilities may be simple, but must be sufficient for a basic yet functional stay — e.g. a wood‑fired stove, outdoor kitchen, collecting water from a pump or spring
- • Outhouse toilet, and outdoor washing and shower facilities with solar‑heated water
Basic requirements for cleaning equipment
- • Cleaning supplies must be well organised: broom, dustpan, mop bucket, mop, cleaning agents
- • Cleaning agents must be eco‑labelled
- • Cleaning agents must be stored out of reach of children
Our immersive stays are popular with outdoor enthusiasts, hikers and cyclists, as well as families who want to truly disconnect from everyday life. Enjoy an adventure reminiscent of wilderness camping — with a touch more comfort and the added connection to a farm or host family.
