Introducing Immersive Stays
This year marks the debut of a brand‑new accommodation category within Farmstay Sweden. With our immersive stays, we’re responding to the growing interest in simpler, nature‑close holidays that offer a sense of wilderness and an “off‑grid” experience.
Immersive stays differ from our regular sheaf‑rated accommodations, yet they still follow strict criteria to be part of the Farmstay Sweden network.

The very first immersive stay to join this category is Nyvallens Gård, with their traditional shepherd-huts near the mountain of Sonfjället. Here you stay in furnished mountain huts, cook over an open fire or gas stove, heat your own water and wash in a wooden tub. Lighting comes from solar panels or candles. It’s a true off‑grid adventure — just 300 metres from the National Park.
Sustainable immersive stays are becoming increasingly popular among outdoor-enthusiasts, hikers and cyclists — and also among families who want to truly disconnect from everyday digital life. Under the Farmstay Sweden umbrella, you can now choose this type of stay that offers something distinctly different from the ordinary.
As certified immersive stays within our organisation, these accommodations meet our requirements for fire safety and fire‑extinguishing equipment. Indoor areas must be smoke‑free, clean and well maintained. Cooking, hygiene and sanitation facilities may be simple or rustic, but they must still provide everything needed for guests to enjoy a basic yet functional stay.
Keep an eye out for more immersive stays joining the category — anything from glamping tents and simple cabins to crofter’s cottages or converted caravans. Experience an adventure reminiscent of wilderness camping, but with a touch more comfort and the added connection to a farm or host family!
